4am at Durdle Door
£12.00 – £750.00
Description
A real breakthrough! Taken between 4am and 5am on the morning of 5th April 2017. Having shot all of my sky exposures at ISO 6,400 for the past couple of years, I’ve come to the realisation that longer exposures, at lower sensitivities, mean that the camera captures a lot more data.
I was so lucky to have Durdle Door to myself, probably because of the short window between the moon setting, at 4am, and astronomical twilight just 45 minutes later. And the humidity was in the low 80s, which makes a change from the misty muggy mornings we’ve been having recently.
The sky was a stacked series of 10x 2-minute tracked exposures at ISO400, 14mm, f/4 (tracked with an iOptron SkyTracker Pro). The foreground was a further 8-minute exposure at f/4. Layers stacked and extracted in Photoshop, Nik Collection for detail, and local adjustments in Lightroom.
A4 and limited edition mounted prints are printed on high quality Fuji photo paper. Larger prints are available, printed on durable, scratch-proof and weather-proof vinyl, mounted on a 3mm thick aluminium composite board, creating a light, strong and unfussy product.
